Come Volunteer at our Fall Native Plant Sale!

Are you looking for more ways to learn about the native plants of Alabama? Are you someone who enjoys making meaningful connections with people who share similar interests? Do you like hanging out around greenhouses with kind and passionate people? If you answered “yes" to any of these questions, you should consider volunteering with us this October for our Greenhouse Days Fall Native Plant Sale!

Tasks we’ll need your help with

Customer Greeter/Native Plant Expertise: Greeters assist shoppers with their expertise in plant groupings and should be able to answer all if not most questions regarding the native plants. This role is ideal for volunteers with good customer service skills and decent to above average native plant knowledge!

Plant Holding Area: Plant holders group larger orders at the holding tables and assist with moving the plants to the checkout area when ready. This role is ideal for volunteers with good customer service skills. Specific plant knowledge is not necessary.

Plant Loaders: Plant loaders move finalized orders to the loading/pickup location and then move the carts back to the holding area.

*As a note, all volunteers are asked to arrive at the Ruffner Mountain Greenhouse located at 1214 81st S. no later than 9:30 am for a quick briefing of the day before the sale starts at 10:00 am. Coffee, water, light snacks, and lunch will provided for volunteers each Saturday. To register for any of the available Saturday slots, head to our calendar page and click the “Register Here” button embedded within any of the Saturdays in October. If you have any questions or need any assistance with registering, please email our Volunteer Coordinator, Sloan Miles (sloan@jeffcogreenways.org)!
