We’re working together!
Red Mountain Park, Ruffner Mountain and Turkey Creek are partnering to provide joint program offerings and volunteer opportunities for members and visitors. We hope this partnership highlights the unique nature of each greenspace and deepens the connection between the communities we serve.
Program Offerings
We offer both public and private educational programs at all three of our preserves, and we also offer off–site outreach programs. Please note: Ropes courses and zip lining are currently unavailable at Red Mountain Park.
Life of a Creek
Would your class like to learn more about Turkey Creek by getting in the water?
At Turkey Creek, we offer a unique program called “Life of a Creek” that allows the students to get into the creek, dip-net for bioindicator species, identify those species, and learn how they can tell us about the health of our preserve. This program is appropriate for 3rd-12th grade.
Since participants will be conducting aquatic surveys, all participants, including chaperones, are expected to come prepared to enter the water and get wet. Please wear wading-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes.
Program fees:
Onsite programs are $10 per participant. For schools and scout groups: we do not charge for teachers, but we do ask that all non-teacher chaperones/parents contribute as participants.
The Life of a Creek program has a minimum fee of $250.
Offsite outreach programs are $250 for one program and $400 for two programs.
Boothing fees are dependent on the event. Please contact us at programs@jeffcogreenways.org for more information if you would like for us to have a booth at your event.
Cancellation Policy:
Please provide a 48-hour notice prior to cancellation
All programs canceled with less than 48 hour notice or without rescheduling will be charged a $200 cancellation fee
Program coordinators will monitor the weather closely, and notify your group the day prior in the event of a necessary rescheduling due to inclement weather.
