Did you know that a single bee can pollinate up to 6000 flowers in its short lifetime?
Are you interested in creating habitats for solitary bee species in order to increase the number of local pollinators and promote biodiversity in your own backyard? Come out to Ruffner and assemble your own pollinator condo!
You will also receive a native pollinator plant to take home and install to help your garden thrive.
This workshop will consist of a number of activities aimed at raising awareness of our native pollinators while becoming more effective in our home gardens and creating biodiversity.
Details:
Bee scientists from Auburn University will be in attendance to discuss pollinators and to answer questions. Common misconceptions of bees and pollinators will also be addressed.
Become a citizen scientist by identifying the pollinators you would like to have in your backyard habitat, and inputting your findings into a world wide database, iNaturalist.org that will help scientists learn more about the pollinators populations.
Discuss common misconceptions of bees and pollinators.
Resources to take home that can add to your pollinator knowledge and create a successful habitat in your yard.
Please bring your own power drill and or/hammer if you have one
We have a 20 person capacity for this workshop. If you sign up and cannot attend, please let us know asap, so that we can make room for all who would like to attend.
Due to limited resources, we ask that you only make one per household if you are attending with family members
