Community Work Day

  • Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve (map)

Our next Community Workday continues with our restoration efforts and we will focus on planting trees: Red Oaks (Querqus rubra) and White Oaks (Quercus alba) along and near the mountain ridge.

Check in at "Miner's Junction," where Quarry, Ridge & Valley, and Hollow Tree trails meet. There, you'll receive trees, planting tool, gloves, and instructions on how and where to plant. Please pack-in any other supplies (water, snacks) you may need. We will have limited supplies being on the mountain ridge, as we are. As the weather has been rainy recently, please dress appropriately for rain and mud.

This is a "come and go" event, so join us at your convenience!

**Please note** The group will meet "on trail" rather than at the Nature Center. You can hike in from Nature Center or the Ballfields entrance.
