Guided Fall Hike with Michelle Reynolds

During September, late summer blooms persist while fall flowers begin to emerge on the mountain. A profusion of gold, blue, pink, and purple wildflowers appears along the trails and on the limestone quarry floor. Butterflies are everywhere, bees are buzzing, and the birds are active. Join us on a hike to the limestone quarry to see blue mistflower and salvia, purple wild petunia and aromatic aster, yellow composites, sneezeweed and goldenrod, pink false foxglove, and white blooms of boneset, thoroughwort and wingstem. We’ll also see plenty of interesting berries and birds along the way.

To best prepare for this hike, we recommend the following:

- Wear proper footwear for hiking such as closed-toe shoes. This hike is approximately 2.5 miles round trip and consists of varried terrain.
- Bring a water bottle
- Though Ruffner loves having leashed dogs on the trails, please leave your furry friends at home for our Guided Hikes.

If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 205-833-8264
