Volunteer and become a part of one of the largest
urban nature preserves in the United States
You can join...
1. THE HABITAT GARDEN CLUB
Join us as we expand our Habitat Demonstration Gardens. Learn more about the wildlife benefits of native plants while sharpening your gardening skills! Tasks include garden bed prep, planting, transplanting, weeding, and site cleanup. Habitat Garden Club meets every Tuesday from 9 - 12 in front of the Nature Center.
2. COMMUNITY WORK DAYS
Work sites span the mountain from the Eastside Park property, to the Nature Center, to Ruffner Road. This is a great opportunity to get out and engage with your community, and maybe get your hands a little dirty in the process. Work days are typically the third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. until noon, meeting at the Nature Center. Check the calendar for more details. Community work days are a great way to involve your office group, church group, school, or other community program in volunteering at Ruffner. Pre-register your group on the appropriate Calendar event page, or by contacting our Conservation Technician at firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. THE RUFFNER TRAIL TEAM
Help to build new trails and maintain those existing on the mountain. This opportunity is best for individual volunteers who are active and interested in physically demanding work and learning more about how to build the best hiking and walking trails possible.
