PROGRAMS AT RUFFNER
Discovery Through Nature
To us, the jumping off point of all making and creating is the natural world and a simple sense of wonder. From there, the sky’s the limit. Join us as we delve into the connections between art and ecology, and you’ll get to make some really cool stuff along the way.
Community Work Days
Work sites will span the mountain, from our Eastside Park property, to the Nature Center, to Ruffner Road. This is a great opportunity to get out and engage with your community, and maybe get your hands a little dirty in the process.
The history of Ruffner Mountain is wild and a little weird, just like the natural world! Learn about both as we explore the mountain together.
Citizen science provides opportunities for the general public to participate in scientific data collection. Let our staff connect you to the many worlds, visible and invisible, that exist in your own backyard. Your input just may help a scientist change the world.
For details on our upcoming public programs, please visit our calendar.
In addition to the programs listed on our calendar, Ruffner Mountain offers on- and off-site educational wildlife opportunities: "Alabama Animals" for grades K-8, and "Animal Meet and Greet" for pre-K. Students will discover the amazing wildlife of Alabama with an up-close encounter featuring three of Ruffner's Animal Ambassadors.
Program costs range from $50-$90.
