Christine Harlan, Programs Director

When groups of school kids want to come to Ruffner, Christine immediately rushes into action. They might want to explore animal and plant habitats on Ruffner trails, so she plots it all out. Since she has 5500 kids show up every year, she’s busier than ten or twenty average school teachers. As if this weren’t enough, she also designs summer camp programs, helps with fundraising events, works with Chivon to teach about wildlife, assists in taking care of Sarah and other on-site native wildlife. She has been known to join Chivon and Sarah in discussing the educational aspects of taking care of sentient beings. This is understandable; in part, because Christine has a B.A. in Humanities, Science and Environment from Virginia Tech.
